Dried Meat Storage Instructions

Our dried meat products does not contain any preservatives except the salt used to produce it. As there is barely any preservatives in these products, it has the tendancy to spoil quickly if not stored propperly. The reason why it can spoil so quickly is because the humudity in the Netherlands (and other EU countries) are much higher than in South Africa. You can refer to the guide below for storage instructions.

Storage instructions:

Your biltong or droëwors will be stored best in the freezer in a brown paper bag that does not have a plastic lining within. Whenever you want to eat some of the biltong or droëwors, you can take it out of the freezer and allow to thaw at room temperature for 15 to 30 minutes. If stored in your freezer, the moisture in the biltong or droëwors will be preserved.

The biltong or droëwors can alternatively be store in an airtight container or brown paper bag (without a plastic lining) in your fridge. This will however not preserve the meat product will continue to dry out on the inside. We suggest that you consume the biltong or droëwors within 3 days if stored in your fridge.
