Hi Kuierkos familie,

Don't you just love Christmas songs? They have a way of getting stuck in your head — and right now Chris Rea's "Driving Home for Christmas" is playing on repeat in mine. I absolutely love that song.

It takes me straight back to my years at Edgars. The playlist was set to play... you guessed it... over and over. I had just turned 16 and all I wanted was to earn my own money. Luckily for me, my parents were friends with the Edgars manager in Warmbad,Tannie Linda, and I landed a job wrapping gifts.

Saturdays were especially busy, because all the grand tannies from the Springbokvlakte did their Christmas shopping at Edgars. And let me tell you — those aunties can shop. I cut myself, got ribbon and tape in my hair, and by the end of the day I was a complete mess... but the tannies were happy because I could wrap gifts properly. Honestly, I still love it.
