Spring is in the air! 🌼🌼🌼

Hello Friends,
Spring is in the air! 🌼 Blossoms everywhere, daffodils showing off, and the garden is slowly waking up again. Unfortunately… I am slightly behind with the trimming and tidying this year. I am really missing that extra pair of hands in the garden.
Growing up we always had Jan. Now Jan didn’t move very fast — but that was because he had the entire week to cut the grass and tend to the flower beds. No rush. The only real deadline was: wash the cars before the weekend started. Oupa Faan loves to have a clean car when going to church. A very sensible system if you ask me.
Gardening in South Africa is also very different from here. In my very first garden I planted some agapanthus from my mom’s garden. After one season the flower beds were lush and full and I could divide the plants and make more. Here… you get months of winter where absolutely nothing happens to those poor plants. They just sit there like they’re waiting for someone to switch the garden back on.
One year Andreas, my mom and I even went to a garden course by Wena Schoeman in Pretoria, at this beautiful house with the most incredible garden. I cannot remember a single detail of the course… except one thing: you have to divide your garden into different 'rooms'.
Well… I’m not sure how successful we’ve been with that idea, but we keep trying. Luckily Tannie Wena also said:
“Met skade en skande word ons wys.”
So every year when one of my garden projects completely fails, I just remind myself: it’s all part of the learning process. And luckily there is always next spring. 🌿
Easter is quite early this year, so please make sure to place your Easter orders in good time so we can make it extra special for you and your family.
Warm spring greetings,
Marnella & Andreas
