Fast weekend ahead!

Dear KuierKos friends,

We hope you had an amazing summer! This weekend, it's time for Formula 1 at Zandvoort—get ready for the excitement!

Our first Formula 1 experience takes us back to Gran Premio Foster's di San Marino 2004. I had just finished my studies in the States and met Andreas in Germany. We were so in love, and our plan was simple: spend three weeks in Italy together, just the two of us.

In those days, we traveled with the heaviest book ever – Let's Go Europe 2004 – and Eurorail tickets were our golden passes. Andreas was beyond excited. To book tickets, we had to go to one of those old shops where you paid to use the internet — remember the weird modem dialup sound?

Halfway to the race track, we met two Sicilian women with a 14 year old boy. They kindly pointed out we were heading the wrong way and told us the race wasn't actually in San Marino but in Imola. They took us under their wing, and we were grateful... until we realized they had a plan. Back then, if an Italian child could be carried, they didn't need a ticket. Their "little boy" was very well-fed on mamma's cooking.

Just before the gates, they revealed their scheme: Andreas had to carry the boy through. Nervous and sweating, Andreas picked up the heavy kid about 500 meters from the entrance and marched him in. It was the funniest sight — poor Andreas struggling but determined! Needless to say, we learned never to underestimate a Sicilian nonna again.

The rest of the day was unforgettable: Foster's beers, visiting Senna's memorial, and walking the track with the Italian fans. Michael Schumacher was number 1 at the time, so we decided to go to the start. Andreas had our heavy backpack on his back and knelt in front of the "#1" pole position for a photo. All seemed fine... until he decided to kiss the "#1" like any true F1 fan. WHAM—the weight of the backpack pushed him forward, and his face slammed into the tar, nearly knocking out his front teeth. What a day! 🏁

And now, here we are, many years later, still with that same love for life, food, and of course, Formula 1.

This weekend Zandvoort will be buzzing with F1 energy, and we want you to know that KuierKos will be open as usual with our regular hours.

👉 To skip the traffic chaos, take the smart route: drive through Beverwijk and head toward KuierKos. Just after the train tracks in Bloemendaal, turn right onto Lepenlaan. This will save you plenty of time—especially on Saturday.

Looking ahead, September is fully booked with Rugby weekends and Heritage celebrations. We're gearing up for a lekker time with plenty of treats and festive vibes!

So, whether you're in the mood for a pit stop we will be ready to welcome you.

with love Marnella & Andreas
