Delheim is a family owned wine estate that has a rich history that dates back to pre WW2 times. The Delheim Estate is nestled in the foothills of the Simonsberg Mountain in the Stellenbosch Wine Region. The Riesling grapes that are used in this wine are from the oldest vineyard on the farm that was planted in 1985. The vineyard's location provides the perfect conditions for noble rot/botrytis in which the grapes are attacked by a fungus which in essence ‘sucks’ the water out of the grape, leaving behind a very concentrated flavour and a high concentration of sugar too.
This complex yet balanced wine has bold flavours of ripe peach, honey, orange blossom and citrus. Followed by rich, round, layers of apricot and marmalade. The acidity provides good structure and balances out the botrytis notes. and a well rounded mouthfeel that lingers on the palate.
This is a great food wine that pairs well with a number of dishes or can be enjoyed on its own.
The Delheim Edelspatz Noble Late Harvest Botrytis pairs well with: sweet desserts, fruity desserts .
Try it with our Homemade Malva Pudding, Lemon Meringue Pie, or Koeksisters.
